Requests for adminship

This page hosts requests for administrator access on the Meta-Wiki; for requesting administrator access on any other wiki, please find the appropriate venue on the index of request and proposal pages. Requests for bureaucrat, checkuser, oversight and bot, as well as removal of them (other than inactivity) are also made here. Most requests should be listed here for at least seven days; bureaucrats should only close after the minimum time foreseen in the relevant policy. Discussions are not closed early. Adminship will be granted by a support ratio of at least 75%. If a request hasn't been addressed by a bureaucrat after a lengthy period of time, please leave a note at Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat. Requests may be extended, or put on hold by bureaucrats, pending decision or finding of consensus.

Requests for temporary adminship and bot requests may be less formal and often go for a shorter duration if consensus becomes clear after only a few days of discussion.

All editors with an account on Meta, at least one active account on any Wikimedia project, and a link between the two, may participate in any request and give their opinion of the candidate. However, more active Meta editors' opinions may be given additional weight in controversial cases.

Place a request on this page, by transcluding the subpage, for example {{Meta:Requests for adminship/Username}}. Please put the newest request on the bottom. Bear in mind that even if you do meet the criteria above this does not mean that the community will automatically approve a request.
Please note, past administrators who have given up their rights must meet all criteria at the time of the new request. There is no separate process for reinstating past administrators.

Please note: Ill-considered nominations for adminship can be draining and deflating to both the community and the candidate. Any successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate sufficient experience within the Wikimedia community, in addition to a familiarity with Meta-Wiki. If a candidate is not already a local administrator or holder of advanced permissions on a Wikimedia content project, they are less likely to pass a request for adminship here at Meta-Wiki.

Bureaucratship

Add your request below under the bureaucratship section. Please note:

Only active administrators can become bureaucrats, and only after at least 6 months of regular adminship.
User is endorsed by two current bureaucrats after they nominate themselves here.

If you fail any of these requirements, you will not be assigned the bureaucrat flag. For more information see the Meta bureaucrat page.

Other access

For these types of access, create a subpage just as you would for regular adminship and add it to the appropriate section of this page.

Interface adminship: Please read the Meta interface administrator page. The WMF requires two-factor authentication for this access.

Limited adminship: If you need sysop access for a particular reason (such as ability to edit protected pages), you may request limited adminship on Meta. If granted, the user understands that they will only be allowed to use the tools for the tasks they were approved, and not doing so will be grounds for immediate removal. Temporary sysop access will normally be valid for one month unless requested and granted otherwise.

Bot: Please read the bot policy. This wiki allows global bots and automatic approval of certain types of bots; for other bots, add your request below under the bot section, in the same way as an admin request.

CheckUser: please read the CheckUser policy and add your request below under the checkuser section, in the same way as an admin request.

Oversight: please read the Oversight policy and add your request below under the oversight section, in the same way as an admin request.

Translation administrator: please read Meta translation administrator page and Meta’s page about translate extension. No fixed time limit for these requests is defined, and there are no particular requirements; if you provide a valid reason and demonstrate that you know and understand how to prepare pages for translation, your request will most likely be granted.

CentralNotice administrator: Meta Central notice administrator page grant access to manage and edit banner campaigns. Because of the potentially huge impact of banners on the wikis, this should be granted carefully and sparingly. The WMF requires two-factor authentication for this access.

Hi all, after spending some time considering whether I should reapply, I’ve decided to request adminship again on Meta. My current admin access is limited to my U4C work, and I’d like to convert it into full adminship so I can also help with general anti-vandalism efforts, handle obvious deletions and cleanup, and assist around RFCs and community discussions. I have some prior experience with the tools, and I’ll always make sure to seek guidance before taking action in unfamiliar areas. Hi. I am currently responsible for communications at GLAM WikiCon 2025 and kindly request translation adminship on Meta to facilitate timely updates of the page, ensuring diverse audiences receive accurate and up-to-date information about the event.

My home wiki is PT-WP, I am an active member of Wikimedia Brasil, and I participate in various organizational initiatives within the movement.

To demonstrate my familiarity and competence with the Translate extension, I have prepared a fully marked-up, translation-ready version of the GLAM Wiki 2025 FAQ page in my sandbox. In this example, I applied proper translation unit markers, used < translate > tags, and organized the content with hidden toggles, following official guidelines.

Beyond this conference-related content, I am also willing to assist with reviewing and maintaining other translation pages if granted the necessary permissions.

Thank you for preparing an example! It shows that you still have to learn (see the documentation, which is now also linked when editing your sandbox):

You shouldn’t add the translation markers yourself (unless you really know what you’re doing), the system will do it for you once the page is marked for translation.
You made too much translatable. Complex wikitext like template calls or HTML-like elements shouldn’t be translatable, only their textual parameters.
Headings should be separated by empty lines from the following text.
The translation variables mostly look good, but you used the <tvar|1>…</> syntax, which was deprecated four years ago in favor of <tvar name="1">…</tvar>. (There are probably still many pages on Meta that haven’t been updated, especially event-related ones, which haven’t been touched for years; but newly prepared pages should use the new syntax, which is more compatible with VisualEditor and the new wikitext parser.)

These are relatively small things, so I’m hopeful you’ll learn them right in time for the WikiCon. (However, they make the translator and reader experience much worse, so you should get them right, even if you’re in a hurry.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 08:50, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, There are still minor issues to fix in your sandbox. ?

If you expect your page to be localizable in right-to-left languages (such as Arabic language), you should replace right keyword as template parameter with {{dirend}} (which means “direction end of line”).
There is one remaining legacy <tvar|telegram> syntax, and one typo (<tvar| name=).
Tvar names must be unique inside a translation unit (i.e. a paragraph). They don’t require to be unique inside the whole page. Especially as you use the same tvar content: “email2”, “email3” may suggests to translator those are different emails addresses.
For link targets, it is recommended to use digits as tvar name, because the name does not help translators to provide a better translation. For external links, if you fear the translators do not recognize wikisyntax (because simple brackets are used in natural languages), you should use a tvar name which explains the content is a link target (e.g. “URL”, “link”, or “http”). “pretix” as a tvar name is not really helpful for translators.
There is an internal link which would be better inside a tvar. (Also, Special:MyLanguage for talk pages is useless since we avoid marking talk pages for translation.)
For many categories, at Meta-Wiki, we add {{translations:}} suffix to categorize each translation in respective translation categories.
You should use {{LabelT}} which uses page language, rather than {{Label}} which uses interface language.
